MANAGEMENT TEAM

Rich Guthmann:
President of Guthmann Construction
After graduating from college, Rich pursued a career path he was well accustomed to….. Christian Youth Camping. As an Eagle Scout, he loved the challenge of learning thru application in the environment. After 12 years of directing Camp Lurecrest, it was time for a career change. Having just completed building his own personal home, the move was natural.
He went to work with a local remodeler as he considered the next step. In early 1992, Rich received his General Contractor’s License and Guthmann Construction, Inc. began.
Being highly skilled in the trade, Rich always believed the element that would make the difference in a construction business was having a Great Team of players.
“At Guthmann Construction, all of our employees are outstanding men and women of integrity, skilled in their jobs, and professional in all that they do. It is an honor to work along side each member of our team. Together, we have done some beautiful projects for clients. Many of whom, have become repeat business, all have become friends.”

Tony Gray :
ARCHITECT, AIA
In the Fall of 2006, GCI partnered with Tony L. Gray of Graydesign Architecture, P.A. to provide Design and Project development coordination for GCI projects.
Tony received a BA in Architecture from the College of Architecture at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is a registered Architect in NC and SC with 26 years of experience in design and construction. He has served as past president of AIA Charlotte, and has remained very involved in AIA North Carolina and AIA Charlotte. He also currently serves as the Volunteer President of the Siskey YMCA Board of Managers.
Tony may be the first face you meet of the GCI team. If you have a project in mind but don’t know where to start, he can take your ideas and put them into “Real Design”. Like we tell many of our callers….. “He lives in a real house!” As Architect/Designer of your project, he continues coordinating the details as your project moves into developing the estimate. Even when your job has started and Production is well underway, Tony may still be involved in some details, ensuring that the finished product is receiving the very fluid coordination of the Design/Build Process.

Ryan Dion :
Project Development Manager
Ryan Dion, is our Project Development Manager and the 3rd GCI member that you may interface with. Having previously owned his own business for 15 years, Ryan brings a wealth of business and construction experience to our GCI Team.
Ryan was a member of the Painting & Decorating Contractors of America for 10 years and served as a member of PROSULT, a PROOF Management consulting company for 4 years. His experience in Construction, makes him a valuable link in the Design/Build Process.
When Ryan receives your final working drawings, he then takes your designs, budget and time constraints and develops a proposal for your project from start to finish. Ryan’s “Big Picture” understanding of the total construction process, provides fine detail for the homeowner’s proposal. While the homeowner is finalizing selections, Ryan is busy gathering data, figures, and prices to ensure that your proposal is accurate and covers the total scope of your job.

Rick Haase:
Production Manager
Growing up as a son of a missionary in Africa, Rick received lots of practical “hands-on education” in all types of construction. He is the only member of our company that can actually boast of “cutting down trees, setting up saw mills, then cutting those trees into lumber planks for building homes.”
As a Biology major in college, Rick, half jokingly, tells of the couple of summers he worked planting some 100,000 trees to replenish those that he would use up “later in life as a carpenter framing and building homes.” After working for a small custom home builder back in the early 90’s, Rick came to GCI as he was putting the finishing the touches on his own personal home.
Rick has received the Certified Lead Carpenter Accreditation thru the NARI (National Association of Remodeling Industry) and is a licensed General Contractor
Once a project has been designed, the estimate completed, and the contract signed, the batton is passed to Rick, who moves the project into Production, He maintains the highest standards to ensure that each job efficiently reaches its goal in a timely manner.
